Uruguay

Uruguay is a very small country that has rounded up some extremely talented players throughout history.  Uruguay has won two World Cups many years ago.  Granted Uruguay is not playing at the level as when they won, but the history serves as inspiration for the current squad.  Uruguay, at the bottom of qualifying in the South American zone, had to go into a playoff to secure a spot in the Group stage.

Uruguay’s greatest asset is in their backline.  The defense continually has to stop attacks from the large South American teams.  The practice Uruguay received from their South American neighbors has made the defense rock solid.

Inconsistency is Uruguay’s greatest weakness.  The always play extremely hard, but they do not always play extremely well.  When matching up Uruguay against other teams, you never know if they will come away with a win or loss.

If you want to watch one of the worlds best strikers look out for Diego Forian.  Forian is extremely talented and can strike from both short and long range.  To Forian’s side look for Luis Suarez.  Suarez is excellent at setting up plays for Forian to score.  Also watch for the leader of the team Diego Lugano.  Lugano is an extremely tough player and very entertaining to watch.

While Uruguay has little chance of winning the World Cup, they have the potential to do very well.  In the Group stage any team could win.  The best game to watch will be against Uruguay’s rival Mexico.
