The Netherlands had their eyes set on going to the 2010 World Cup Finals. They won all eight of their qualifying matches. Though only narrowly winning some qualifying matches, the Netherlands was determined to accomplish their goal.
The Netherland’s greatest weapon is their offense. The frontline is able to make smart plays and score goals. The Dutch are able to score important goals against tough defenses under pressure.
The Netherlands greatest weakness is definitely their defense. The defense played fairly well during the qualifying matches, but has struggled during others. The goalkeeper, Maarten Stekelenburg, has been criticized for most of the mistakes, which is most likely due to the lack of experience. The defense really needs to learn how to play well together in order to start winning.
Watch out for one of the best midfielders in the game Wesley Sneijder. His long-range shots and ability to move the game forward are real assets. Robin van Persie, a striker, is always entertaining to watch and is sure to score some points for the Dutch.
The Dutch have a definite chance to make it far in the 2010 World Cup. They are currently ranked 3rd in the world, so they have the potential to do great things. Despite this potential, the Netherlands are not unbeatable.
The games against Denmark and Japan should both be entertaining. The Dutch are favored in both of these games, but not by very much. Watch these two games to see if the Netherlands can put some strategies together and move on to the Knock Out stage.
