Ghana
Ghana has only had one previous appearance at the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany. In Germany, Ghana surprised the world by making it to stage 16. Ghana qualified early on by winning their first four matches and drawing in their last match.
The Ghana team’s best asset is their midfield. The midfield is able to control the ball and set up the front line. The distribution in the midfield is the best out of all of the African teams.
While Ghana’s midfield is able to feed the ball to the frontline, they struggle to score goals. Ghana lacks any really good strikers. For goals the Ghana depends on the long-range shots from the midfield.
A player to watch for is Richard Kingson. Kingson is known for his incredible saves and he is a really strong member of the defense. A lot of Ghana’s midfield strength comes from Michael Essien. Essien is one of the best midfielders in the game. He has a high level of endurance and is a leader amongst the midfielders. The team captain, Stephen Appiah, is an essential part to the Ghana team’s formula for success.
The main goal of Ghana is to make it further than the 2006 World Cup and make it out of the Knock Out stages. It will be a tall order for Ghana to beat Germany, so the games to watch are against Serbia and Australia. The fight between these three teams should be an entertaining sight to see.
