As the Manchester United have essentially wrapped up the English Premier League title as well as took one a major step toward advancing to the Champions League Final, they are on a roll. When they visit Arsenal on Sunday they will face one of their biggest rivals. For second place in the EPL standings, Arsenal is currently in a battle with Chelsea and this should be a fierce contest.

In English Premier League Odds, Arsenal is a +150 favorite, Manchester United is at +188, and a Draw is +225.

By yielding just 28 goals in his 30 starts, Edwin van der Sar has been strong in goal for Manchester. A major reason why the team is threatening to claim another EPL title is because of Edwin. The club relies on Dimitar Berbatov on offence, who has a remarkable 21 goals. For the most prolific offense in the league, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez are also double digit scorers.

The goaltending has not been a strong for Arsenal. By allowing a total of 36 goals, four different goalies have started EPL games for them this season. Robin Van Persie has emerged as the top goal scorer on offence and he has 15 to lead the club. Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri are also potent scorers. Although Arsenal can score goals the offense isn’t as strong as that of Manchester United.

In their last three EPL matches Arsenal is winless. They also lost their EPL match to Manchester this season as they have a recent loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup. Arsenal will be hungry playing at home and a win would ease the pain of their recent slide. To take the win here, expect whichever side scores first.

With the English Premier League season entering the home stretch, there is one team with a realistic chance to unseat Manchester United. Arsenal has been one of the hottest teams in the EPL, sitting comfortably in second place. It is a busy week for them. After a Champion’s League and FA Cup match, Arsenal will face Stoke City. Stoke City is currently in 9th place.

Check out online sportsbooks for Soccer odds closer to game time.

For Arsenal, Wojciech Szczesny figures to be in goal again. He has been the regular starter for about a month. He has played well since taking over, playing just one poor game. Offensively, Arsenal has been a force. They have 56 goals on the EPL season, giving them one of the strongest offenses around. Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie have been the strongest performers.

For Stoke City, Asmire Begovic has been the starting goalie since October. He has been solid, allowing 19 goals in 17 matches. His strength will be needed because Stoke City isn’t as dominant offensively as Arsenal. Robert Huth is the only player with more than 5 goals on the roster. Kenwyne Jones leads the team with 62 shots on goal.

Stoke City has been up and down for most of the season. They have lost three of their last four matches, being shut out in each game. The struggles on offense have been obvious. That will need to change if they have any hopes of beating Arsenal. Arsenal can score, so it is up to Stoke City to respond. This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Arsenal swept both matches last season.

Blackpool is a new member in the English Premier League. They’ll face a very tough early season test as they visit Arsenal in London. The Arsenal are coming off a draw on the road against Liverpool in their first match of the EPL season. If they want to be taken seriously as a contender, a home win against an EPL newcomer is a must.

Blackpool may prove tougher than expected. After a 6th place finish in the Championship League, Blackpool won a playoff to earn promotion to the Premier League for the first time since the division formed. It is also their first appearance in the top English league since 1971. In their opening match, Blackpool earned a comfortable 4-0 win over Wigan. They won’t be a team to be taken lightly. Newcomer Marlon Harewood scored two goals for Blackpool in their win, and he needs to play as good if they have any chance to beat Arsenal.

Arsenal is coming off a fortunate draw, but earning a point at Liverpool is no small task. The last time the teams met, Arsenal won a 2000 match during the FA Cup. The last time they met in regular league play was in the 1970-71 season, when Arsenal won both matches. Both teams are different now though. Playing at home, Arsenal should be able to claim a win. If Blackpool can force a draw or pull a stunner, they will send a message to the rest of the EPL that they are a team to be reckoned with. A win for Blackpool will spice up the online betting odds further.

Chelsea Football Club have experienced another stellar season in the Barclay’s Premier League and look to be in good position to win the league title with just five fixtures left in the season. While the Blues appear to be enjoying a banner season, it has been far from easy for the west London club as they seek to win the Premier League for the first time since 2005/06.

Chelsea began the season red hot and quickly established themselves as the front runners to win the league title. The Blues opened the season defeating their arch rivals, Manchester United, in the FA Community Shield on penalty kicks. Chelsea opened the Premier League season winning six consecutive matches before suffering a shocking defeat against Wigan Athletic on the road. The club remained in the top three all season, holding possession of first place for much of the season.

The stresses of competing in four competitions appeared to affect the club however as they struggled mid-season under the weight of Carling Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Premier League fixtures. It appeared things might unwind for the Blues after falling out of the Carling Cup against Blackburn Rovers, a club they defeated 5-0 just weeks earlier. After their Carling Cup exit, Chelsea went on an unimpressive run, winning one match while losing one and drawing three. Chelsea would regain their form in the Premier League but would see their season “bottom out” in March with back to back defeats against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League first knockout round, eliminating the club from the most lucrative club competition in the world.

The Blues rebounded again however, winning three of their last four matches in the Premier League. Chelsea retook the lead and established themselves as the title favorites with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United on April 3. The victory puts Chelsea in the driver’s seat as another exciting Barclay’s Premier League season draws to a close.

Manchester United will host relegation zone club Hull City on Saturday in the Barclay’s Premier League. United and Hull will be the only Premier League clubs with a domestic fixture at the weekend as the majority of the clubs in the Premier League have fourth round FA Cup fixtures scheduled for the weekend.

United will enter Saturday just one point behind first place Chelsea and could steal first place from the idle leaders with a victory.

Kickoff between the two is set for 15:00 local time at Old Trafford in Manchester, England.

Manchester United has struggled mightily over the past six weeks. United was stunned by Football League One side Leeds United who handed the Red Devils a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup, the earliest exit from that competition for United in two decades.

United’s last match was a midweek fixture against local rival Manchester City in the first leg of their Carling Cup semifinal tie. Former United striker Carlos Tevez scored two goals against his old side to bring City from behind to earn a 2-1 victory. Hull City has been struggling to climb out of the relegation zone for the past two months, but the Tigers received an emotional boost this past weekend as they held top four side Tottenham to a 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United have a chance to put all their struggles behind them and actually capture first place, for the time being, with a victory on Saturday. Hull City are creeping out of the relegation zone.

Hull are currently 18th in the league table but level on points with 17th place Wolverhampton and 16th place West Ham United. A victory or draw could boost Hull City out of the relegation zone, providing an important morale boost.
