English Premier League soccer preview – Manchester United vs West Bromwich Albion
It will be a key English Premier League showdown when Manchester United hosts West Bromwich Albion. Both clubs are near the top of the standings. That is no surprise for Manchester United. Manchester is coming off of two draws. They have three wins and four draws on the season. Meanwhile, West Bromwich is on a roll. After early season losses to Chelsea and Liverpool, they have not lost. They have three wins, two draws, and two losses on the season. One of the victories was a road win against Arsenal. Props betting experts might fancy West Bromwich’s chances against Manchester United.
West Bromwich has a winning record, but the offense has not been that potent. They have allowed more goals than they scored and have been shut out twice on the season. However, the offense has been clicking a bit more. They posted three goals in the victory over Arsenal. Peter Odemwingie leads the way with three goals in six starts this season. He is the only player who has scored more than one goal. Odemwingie and Chris Brunt lead the offensive attack. On the other side, Scott Carson has been decent in goal. He has yielded 12 goals but also has 24 saves on the season. He holds up well against offensive attacks.
Manchester United has been much more potent offensively. Nani and Dimitar Berbatov have 29 shots on goal apiece. Berbatov leads the club with six goals. Wayne Rooney and Darren Fletcher add some offensive spark as well. As a team, Manchester has scored sixteen goals on the season, which is tied for second most in the English Premier League. Edwin van der Sar has been decent in goal, allowing nine total goals to go along with 19 saves.
If Manchester United is to win and build momentum during the season, they need to capitalize on their shots more. They also need improved goaltending. Playing at home, they should have an edge against West Bromwich. But West Bromwich is improving, and is capable of pulling an upset in this one.
